This recipe for sourdough pizza crust makes a crisp, thin, crunchy crust. You will need an active sourdough starter for this recipe. If you prefer a thicker crust, don't roll your dough thin. Bake the sourdough pizza crust prior to topping it to ensure a good, crisp crust. Give it a try!

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp. Oregano

  • 1/2 tsp. Garlic powder

  • 1 tsp. Salt

  • 1 1/2 cups Sourdough starter

  • 2 tbsp. Olive oil

  • 1 3/4 cups All-purpose flour

Method

    In a stand mixer fitted with bread hook (or by hand), combine flour, salt, garlic powder, and oregano.

    Mix well.

    Turn mixer off and make a well in the center of the flour mixture.

    Add in sourdough starter and 2 Tbs. olive oil.

    Mix well for about 5 minutes or until a smooth dough forms. If your dough is not forming, add a bit of water or sourdough starter, 1 Tbs. at a time.

    Pour 1 Tbs. olive oil into a glass bowl. Place dough in the olive oil, turning to coat.

    Cover with a clean dishcloth and let rest for a minimum of 2 hours or up to 6 hours.

    Add more olive oil if dough begins to dry out.

    Roll out dough and bake at 500 degrees for 10 minutes.

    Top with your favorite pizza toppings and bake for another 10 minutes.
