The recipe for this basic pizza dough is virtually fat-free and delicious. Top it as you wish, but be sparing with the cheese and generous with the veggies.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 2 cups bread flour

  • 3/4 cup water (warm, 100 to 110 F)

  • 1 package active dry yeast (1/4 ounce)

  • 1 tbsp. honey

Method

    In a small bowl, mix together honey, yeast, and warm water. Leave for 10 minutes until frothy.

    In a large bowl whisk together flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and stir with a palette knife until dough ball forms.

    Turn out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes or until smooth and elastic.

    Form a ball and place it in a lightly floured large bowl. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and damp tea cloth. Let dough rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

    Remove dough from bowl and punch down on the lightly floured surface.

    Roll into a 12-inch circle and place on a lightly oiled baking sheet. Top with favorite toppings and bake in a 450 F oven for 10 to 13 minutes or until golden.
