Delicious chocolate chip cookies are transformed into Halloween treats with chocolate spiders. A couple of round white sprinkles for eyeballs completed the look of this Halloween treat. They will be the best chocolate chip cookies you’ve ever tasted! Bill got me a larger stand mixer just so I could make these particular cookies more often! Yes, they’re that good!

Ingredients

Spiders

  • Candy eyes or round white sprinkles

  • Chocolate Melting wafers or more chocolate chips

  • 36 semisweet chocolate wafers

  • 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1 tsp. baking soda

  • 2 1/2 cups cake flour or pastry flour

  • 1 cup butter, at room temperature

Method

  • 01
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • 02
Beat butter and sugars until creamy.
  • 03
Add eggs and vanilla. Mix well.

  • 05
Scoop a rounded tablespoon (or use a medium cookie scoop) of dough onto parchment lined cookie sheets.
  • 06
Bake 8 minutes or until cookies are golden.
  • 07
Remove from oven, add one chocolate wafer and a few more semisweet chocolate chips. Allow to cool for a few minutes and remove to wire rack to decorate.

  • 10
Let the chocolate cool a bit until it pipes neatly without running out of the bag. Then pipe 8 legs on each spider. While the wafer is still soft, add eyes if desired. Let cool completely before putting in a storage container.
