Ingredients

Red Velvet Cake Batter Frosting

  • 3-4 cups powdered sugar as needed

  • 2 tbsp. milk

  • 1/2 cup Red Velvet Cake Mix dry powder, sifted to remove lumps

  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract

  • 8 oz. cream cheese or 1/2 C. butter, softened

  • 1/2 cup butter softened

Red Velvet Cake

  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract

  • 1/3 cup buttermilk or milk

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 cup oil

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 box Red Velvet Cake Mix

Method

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line pans with cupcake liners. Sift cake mix into a small bowl and set aside.

    In a large bowl, combine eggs, oil, sour cream buttermilk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add cake mix and stir.

    Fill cupcake liners 3/4 full and bake for 16-20 minutes or until an inserted knife comes out clean.

    Red Velvet Cake Batter Frosting: Beat butter and cream cheese until smooth. Add vanilla extract, red velvet cake mix, and milk and beat again. Add in powdered sugar a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

    Pipe onto cooled cupcakes and top with sprinkles.
