Ingredients

  • sesame seeds

  • chopped green onions

  • 2 tbsp. cornstarch

  • 2/3 cup water

  • 1 tsp. ground ginger

  • 1 tsp. garlic powder

  • 2 tbsp. sesame oil

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2/3 cup rice wine vinegar

  • 1 cup low sodium soy sauce

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Method

  • 01
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • 02
In a pot, combine the soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic powder, and ground ginger. Mix together the water and cornstarch to create a slurry.
  • 03
Pour the slurry into the pot and bring to a simmer. Let the sauce simmer until it gets thick and glossy.
  • 04
Once the sauce is thick and glossy remove from the heat and set to the side to cool. While the sauce is cooling, trim any of the unsavory bits from the chicken and cut each piece in half.
  • 05
Season the chicken on both sides with salt and pepper and place on a foil-lined baking sheet.
  • 06
Drizzle half of the teriyaki sauce over the chicken and brush so that each piece is coated. Cover with foil and place in the oven for 15 minutes.
  • 07
After 15 minutes remove the chicken from the oven, uncover it, flip the pieces over, and drizzle the rest of the sauce over it. Brush the sauce over the pieces and return to the oven for 15 more minutes.
  • 08
Toss the chicken pieces in the sauce a few times top with chopped onions and sesame seeds. Serve and enjoy!
